2017 HONBLUE PURCHASE AWARD
"Kamapua'a" My Intaglio entry for the 2017 Honolulu Printmakers Exhibition won a Honblue Purchase Award.
The Legend of Kamapua'a that inspired the work is a great story. KAMAPUA’A – Hawaiian god of wild boars and the husband of the fire goddess Pele. In his human form he was a handsome warrior armed with a mace but when the battle lust was upon him his snout became tusked and hog-like and he was virtually uncontrollable. For a quick pop culture reference think of him as a combination of the Wolverine and the Incredible Hulk.
